We'll call this good news...
I am apparently allergic to alpaca and cashmere. The good news is that this means I won't be buying some luxury fibers. The bad news is that I already have...

Sad...
I just found out that Berroco Pure Merino Nuance has been discontinued. This is one of my favorite yarns to work with. Contemplating stocking up.

this is my blog, and i'll do what i want with it...
that's a bit of a lie. i *want* to share everything. show things i've knit and/or crocheted, share techniques (i've got a two-needle long-tail cast on that's actually stretchy. don't let the books lie to you and tell you that casting on over two needles helps. it just gets messy), and have beautiful photographs.
i'm working on it, okay?
anyway, i just dropped by to share another knitting desire i've had for a white: glittens.
i don't mean the fingerless gloves that flip a cover to make mittens (though i *do* want a pair of those as well). i mean mittens with a finger for your index finger. the other three fingers can share a pocket, but i want my index finger and thumb separate.
i'll get around to it eventually...

photoless content update (photo content update preview?)
it's been well established that i'm a horrible knit blogger. i'll do the knitting, i'll take the photographs... but i'd rather be doing either of those than blogging about it. probably because i don't feel like i have an audience to write to (catch-22. or something)
so since i started this knit blog, i knit my first pair of socks in an 18-hour marathon session, including weaving in ends and blocking. i wanted them done in time for mother's day, and i'd frogged an entire sock in a fit the night before. the yarn (elann sock-it-to-me) had no stretch, and the fit (especially in the heel) was horrible. i went back and knit the entire sock in a 2x2 rib (i should probably have listened to ez in the first place) and added some shaping for the heel.
i also have the horrible habit of presenting gift knits without photographs. such is the case with my second-ever pair of socks in knitpicks felt-when-knitting (memories, i think? the merino fingering weight stuff that's been discontinued) (mother), the crystal palace kid merino peacock feathers shawl (MIL), and a berroco pure merino cabled brioche scarf (coworker). i'm hoping to get pictures of the latter two (the first may be too felted and fuzzy to share at this point), but they may be lost to non-blogland forever.
i knit my first sweater, and i designed it myself. i'll probably knit it again to work out the kinks in the pattern, but i'm happy enough with the original to wear it.
oh, and i knit my wedding shawl. it actually turned out to be a huge lifesaver, but now i don't know what to do with the thing. i'll try to get proper photos of it (i live in an east-facing apartment surrounded by trees) soon.
that's it for now. hopefully having this post up will make me want to put some *actual* posts up.

i'm a bad blogger...
a bad, bad blogger. there will be content here eventually. i promise. i've even taken some pictures.
anyway, i just dropped by to relay a small story: the SO and i dropped by ac moore the other day to try and pick up some last-minute wedding stuff, but didn't get there until 6:15. knowing that it was sunday, and that they usually close at 6 on sundays, i was hoping for midnight madness, which would move closing time to 9.
the verdict? well, this is what i was told: "i don't think they're open. if today's midnight madness, i'm sure there would be knitters swarming the store for turbo needles on sale."
...
well, ac moore doesn't sell addi turbos, but at least i know he's listening.
in case you're wondering... no, it wasn't a wasted trip. the ac moore just happened to be in the same strip mall as our actual destination: a grocery store.

consumed
i yearn to knit a sweater.
but it has to be perfect.
and i have no idea what i want it to look like.
so i can't even start.
...
i am obsessed. i know i am.
